A Port of call is  Kaohsiung, Taiwan
by the USS Kawishiwi AO-146
A WESTPAC Replenishment Ship

..
January 1971, is about, and this 1970-71 "Special K" deployment is near, the end. We are presently completing our next to last fueling operation (line period) in the Tonkin Gulf. One more day and we we turn for a port visit to the city of Kaohsiung in Southwestern Taiwan. Kaohsiung (Kou Shung) is advertised as Taiwan's largest port, second largest city and the country's rain industrial complex.  It will be a nice change of pace even if we will have much cooler weather than we normally have in the Philippines, this time of year.  time for blues, peacoats or warm "civvies" for those authorized to wear them ashore. Capt. Wyand
