| Cebu City, Philippines; the country's oldest city. Time has
been kind to Cebu, From Zubu, a small fishing village and trading port
in 1521, Cebu has now grown into a highly urbanized metropolitan
area where it still maintains its stature as the middle of trade and
commerce in the Southern Philippines since the Spanish Colonial times.
A few hours travel time separate Cebu City from sun-filled
beaches, lush green forests and the mountain ranges. Cebu's strategic location makes it ideal for those who wish to travel to the other islands and provinces. The Philippines consists of 7000 islands, some are nameless rock formations in the oceana, 1000 are inhabited. In the center of the Philippines are a large number of medium and small sized islands, grouped together as the Visayas, with the important city of Cebu City. The national language is Filipinp, which is basically Tagalog spoken mainly in Luzon. Cebuano, which also known as Visaya, is the language of the Visayas. There are about 70 other languages. English is the official language used in most offices, hospitals, banks, news papers, books and generally written materials..........SOURCE |
