vehicle cargo ship.
She was built by Rotterdamsche D.D.Mij N.V. in Rotterdam, Netherlands,
for Sea-Land Service, Inc. and named SS Sea-Land
McLean. She was sold to the United States Navy on 16
April 1982 as USNS Capella (T-AK-293). |

SS Algol
(T-AKR 287) is an Algol class
vehicle cargo ship.
She was built by Rotterdamsche D.D.Mij N.V. in Rotterdam, Netherlands,
for Sea-Land Service, Inc. and named SS Sea-Land
Exchange. She was sold to the United
States Navy in October 1981 as USNS Algol (T-AK-287). |

SS
Keystone State (T-ACS-1) was built with a hull
type (C4-S-1aq). She was built at National Steel and Shipbuilding Co.,
San Diego, CA. in 1965.
She was converted to a Containership type (C6-S-1qc) in 1973, and
traded-in to Maritime Administration. Operated by American President
Lines until July 1982, and laid up in the NDRF, Suisun Bay, CA. and
transferred James River, VA., renamed SS
Keystone State in July 1984. Converted to a Crane Ship
at De Foe Shipbuilding Co., Bay City, MI. in 1987 and assigned to the
(MSC) Ready Reserve
Force, (RRF) and placed in service as SS Keystone State (ACS-1). |
ACS-2 |
SS Gem
State (T-ACS-2) was built with a hull type
(C6-S-1aq). She was built at National Steel and Shipbuilding
Company, San Diego, CA. in 1965.
She was converted to a Crane Ship at De Foe Shipbuilding Co.,
Bay City, MI., in 1984 and assigned (MSC) Ready
Reserve Force, (RRF), placed in service as Gem State (ACS-2). |

SS
Grand Canyon State (T-ACS-3) was built with a hull
type (C4-S-1aq) at National Steel and Shipbuilding, San Diego,
CA. in 1965. and delivered to the Maritime
Administration on 4 November1965. She was eventually renamed the SS Grand
Canyon State (ACS-3) and assigned to the (MSC) Ready Reserve
Force, (RRF) and placed in service in 1986. |
AKR-2044 |
MV
Cape Orlando (AKR-2044)
was built in 1980 at Kockums Varv Shipyards
in Malmö, Sweden.The ship was sold to Zenit Dry Good Corp. and
renamed
the MV Zenit Eagle on June 28, 1983, and then resold
again to
AutoMar II Corp, 1983 and renamed once more to American Eagle.
From there it was chartered under long-term contract to US department
of
Transportation and then brought over to the Ready Reserve Fleet on
September
14, 1994. |
AKR-1001 | GTS Admiral W. M. Callaghan (AKR-1001) was built in 1967 by Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Co., Chester, PA. and delivered to Sunexport Holding Corp. Purchased by the Maritime Administration in 1987 and laid up in NDRF James River Group, Lee Hall, VA. Assigned to (RRF) in 1988. |
AKR-5065 | SS Cape Mohican (T-AKR-5065) was built at General Dynamics Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1971. She was delivered on 16 March 1973 to Lykes Bros Steamship Co. for commercial service. Returned to the Maritime Administration on 20 March 1986, she was renamed Cape Mohican and designated T-AKR-5065. |
AKR-5067 | MV Cape
Henry (AKR-5067) was built in 1979 with a
(G2-Dsl - RO-RO) hull, by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Nagasaki, Japan.
Delivered to Ocean Transport and Trading Co. Purchased in 1986 by the
US Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration and assigned
to MSC RRF as MV Cape Henry (AKR-5067) |
AOT-9101 |
SS
Petersburg
(T-AOT-9101) was built in 1963 at Bethlehem Steel Sparrows
Point Yard, Baltimore, MD. and delivered for commercial service to
Dover Tanker Corp. Delivered in 1981 to Charles Kutz & Co., Inc.
and renamed ST Petersburg. Transferred to MARAD in 1987
and assigned to RRF. |
