It was during this time LT Masi, SM1 Kimbrell, and OSC Hennimen started the SW program on the ship. They are the ones that set up the Qualification Packet. I think ET3 Holzer was one of the first ones qualified. He also got so good with helping the Signalman out with their symaphore, flags, and message taking that when we went down to one Signalman, He stood day watch on the signal bridge while the SMSA stood the evening watch. They were very glad when we picked up 3 signalmen in Hawaii. No more 12hours on 12hours off.
