 Graham, Carpenter, and Lampman "faking" the line to minimize the chance of a hazardous tangle which could get caught in the rig or around an unfortunate sailor's legs, taking him over the side!
 The ability to flemish a line, tie knots for various purposes, preserve the weather deck and sides, man the gun mounts at General Quarters, operate the small boats and booms, as well as steer the ship at sea and run the fuel rigs, during unreps, is an important responsibility and one that "Deck Apes" can be proud of.
