25 enlisted men and two officers, are responsible for all the supply
department
service. All of its facilities - the laundry, the soda fountain,
the galley, the stockroom, the barber shop, tailor shop, and small
stores
(clothing) - were designed to create a product. That product is
service.
to operate supply's facilities requires a diversity of skill and
rates.
It takes the commissarymen, the storekeepers, the disbursing clerks,
the
stewards, and the ship's servicement to turn out supply's most
important
product, service.
There are many many people aboard Kawishiwi who feel that "supply runs this ship", this actually is not the case. However, the Supply Department aboard Kawishiwi is entrusted with the tremendous burden of keeping everyone happy with just about the full range of procurable goods. In addition to the above list there is travel programs, customs declaration proceedures and the supervision, training and advancement of all personnel working in the above areas. It's a tough job, but Kawishiwi has earned an outstanding record of accomplishment largely through the consistant high quality performances of the Supply Department |
