Pat Winston
YN3 - 1968-69
Honolulu, Hawaii

Unfortunately I was only onboard for about 6-9 months as I remember coming from USS RECLAIMER (ARS-42) where I had gone from boot camp (12/66) directly to this small ship with a crew of about 60 men and spent most of my 2 years, 10 months and 3 days of active on the RECLAIMER  which has disappeared from the Waipahu De-activitated fleet about 2-3 years ago and we appear to have no web page, reunions and etc which I would like to see appear in the future. I was a kiddy cruiser going in before my 18th birthday and coming out before my 21st birthday.

I'm guessing I left around February 1969 to do TDY on the Fleet Tug, USS Hitchiti (Towed the target in the movie Tora, Tora, Tora).

I will attend 2 WWII reunions this year, I love doing that, one is my father's South Pacific Army/AirForce reunion which is back in Tennessee and the other is in my original hometown of Spokane, Wa. where the 475th P-38 fighter pilot squadron from the South pacific is meeting Labor day week-end.

The WWII folks are getting very, very old and don't have many years left of reunions. My father was the squadron's doctor and died in 1971 at 56 years of age, just when I got out of the service so we never talked about his experiences to any length-and now I am finding out about his experiences and comrades from WWII.  52 weekends in the year and we have a conflict, but I will make it happen.

ps- someday I am sure some crew would like to revisit Honolulu and it would be fun helping you to organize one down the road.
