County where Sharpton grew up, while others are inspired by his travels
during
20 years in the Navy.

his Navy career he served on USS
Edisto, USS
Shannon, USS Pandenius, then in 1960 he served in the Engineering Division aboard USS
Kawishiwi AO-146. His last ship was USS Barry,

After 20 years in the Navy , Bill
settled in Cullman, AL with his wife Faye and 3 children. Having received some training as a
technical
illustrator and taken up painting as a hobby while in the Navy,
Sharpton opened
a lettering and sign shop in Cullman and took photographs and painted
in his
spare time. The rest is history.
