Comanche:  A tribe of Native American Indians that ranged over the western plains from Wyoming to Texas.  They were forced to settle on lands in Oklahoma.

Laid down, 24 August 1944, at Gulfport Boiler & Welding, Port Arthur, TX / Launched, 10 October 1944
Commissioned, USS ATA-202, 8 December 1944

BREMERTON

MARINA

Where you can find the Comanche.
...
The floating breakwater at the Bremerton Marina is 1440 ft. long, 25 ft. wide and draws 8 ft. of water. It is open to the public from 7am - 10 10pm and is home to the Lone Sailor Statue. the Historic vessel COMANCHE is moored at the outer breakwater in the middle where the maine dock connects to the breakwater. Comanche Visitors are welcome on saturday from 1100 to dusk for free. Other days by appointment. Volunteer work parties work every weekend to the end of October.
