1976-1977 Photos

In July of 2004 Jim Barton was rummaging through some old photos and found these of Kawishiwi which he thought might go on the web site some place.

At RIGHT>
Dave (The Fonz) Young (MPA),
an unrecognized guy,
Lary Harris (Aux),
and our host, Jim Barton (CHENG).

A picture taken in 1976. From the left the officers pictured are Ensign Bob McHugh (DCA), Ensign Steve Cobb (Disbursing), Ensign Lary Harris (Aux) and Lieutenant Jim Barton (CHENG)

A picture of Jim. It is a rarity since as the CHENG
He stood only watches in the hole during his first deployment on board (1975). He stood OOD watches on the 1976-1977 deployment and this was taken then.

Engineering E is a picture taken when we painted the Red E on the stack. This was a remarkable achievement for Kawishiwi at this time (1976) because of the poor engineering state the ship had fallen into over time. The guy standing out in the foreground of the picture is
CWO2 Dave (The Fonz) Young, the MPA.

From the left Jim Barton (CHENG) and Lary Harris (Aux). They were probably discussing the virtues of Harley Davidson and BMW motorcycles.
